Michigan TourismSometimes, you don’t want to do anything fancy with your days off. You might just want to do something that allows you to learn more about the country in which you live, enjoy your time with family and friends, and maybe just do the simple things that you don’t have time to do. This is why many people go to Michigan. Yes, it’s not Florida or Hawaii, but it does offer outdoor activities that will keep you occupied without costing you all that you have in your wallet or purse. Sometimes cheaper is better. Cities to Visit in MichiganWhen you’re ready to plan your flight or your car ride to Michigan, you may want to look into these cities as starting points for your vacation:
Remember too that Michigan isn’t just a single state. It has two parts, the upper and the Lower Peninsula. You can meander up the Lower Peninsula to the upper peninsula and you can even make your way over the Canada as well, if you’re interested in seeing more of the North American continent. What Can You Do in Michigan? The Great Lakes region around Michigan is an area that is unique in the world. As the world’s largest source of fresh water, this offers the traveler a lot of opportunities for beaches and for water sports. True, it’s not going to be as pretty as Cancun or Hawaii, but when you travel to Michigan, you will find the summer months hot and relaxing. You might also want to take advantage of these attractions:
All of these attractions are easy to drive to from any city in the state, offer low admission fees, and they are close to cheap lodging options. For example, if you head up to Mackinac Island, you can walk the bridge between the Upper and the Lower Peninsulas. You can also spend time on the shore, collecting rocks, and looking out at the water. You might also want to look into campgrounds during the fall months, as there’s nothing more relaxing than sitting around a fire with your family and friends. When you head to Michigan, you can also enjoy the city life in Detroit, taking advantage not only of the international airport, but also the large concert venues where major entertainers frequently play. Or you can watch various Detroit teams play. You might also want to check out the art and college town scene in Ann Arbor, with the University of Michigan close by. There’s plenty to do and plenty to explore in the state. All you need is a car, a sense of adventure, and a map to guide you around the glove that is the shape of Michigan. |
